Women's History Month in Canada

October has been an exciting month, with many reasons to celebrate including the launch of our new PSA. But did you know it was also Women’s History Month in Canada? It’s time for Canadians to celebrate the achievements of women and girls throughout our history. And it gives us an opportunity to learn about the valuable contributions that women and girls have made.

This year’s theme of Women’s History Month was Canadian Business Women – A Growing Economic Force. Canada has a history of fostering and supporting talented, pioneering women and girls to pursue their dreams and thrive in business world. According to RBC Economics reports, majority-owned women’s businesses contributed an estimated $148 billion to the Canadian economy in 2011.

That’s just one fact showing just how far we’ve come, and how our innovation continues to contribute to the Canadian economy. At Interval House we believe in helping set women up for success in the business world. That’s why we launched the Building Economic Self-Sufficiency (BESS) Program. BESS helps women find the perfect job, and sets them up to build the career of their dreams. You can read about BESS graduates Gessel and Brianne to find out just how much BESS helps.
