- What can I do?
Where can you eat great food, make new friends and reconnect with old ones, kick a soccer ball, toss a Frisbee, swing a badminton racket, compete at hula hoops AND win an Olympic medal?
At Interval House’s Summer Picnic, that’s where!
Interval House corporate partners Vertica Resident Services and Great West Life Realty Advisors planned a fantastic summer picnic for current and former Interval House residents. The theme was, appropriately, “The Summer Olympics,” and the day had lots of opportunities for physical activity and memory-making.
The picnic featured a delicious BBQ with all the fixings and many other treats. A clown painted the kids’ faces, and volunteers organized fun Olympic-themed activities. Children made Olympic torches and played games such as hula-hoop, egg-on-a-spoon and tried their skills at an obstacle course. The kids collected stamps at every game station and earned their Olympic medal at the end of the day!
“The picnic was a great success. It was a great opportunity for clients to meet ex-residents and hear their success stories, this event has positively affected the dynamics of the house as the women have become more optimistic of their own circumstances. The residential staff appreciates this upward shift in spirits.” – Janeen Pringle, Interval House Residential Program Supervisor
