Each month, Interval House picks a theme to reflect on. This month our theme is diversity.
Posted up on our theme board is a map of the world. We've asked all the kids to write a description of themselves and pin it up on the country they're from. We have a really diverse group - with kids from Vietnam, Mexico, and right here in Canada. Even the counsellors pinned themselves up on the map, adding places like Pakistan, Tanzania and Haiti.
After this activity, the kids talked about their family traditions and the differences between each culture. They also talked about ways to embrace those differences, such as celebrating one another's holidays and respecting each others traditions.
