Healing the Whole Woman

One of Interval House’s great strengths is the programs available to our residents as they begin to rebuild their lives. Yes, jobs and housing are important if a woman is to remain free of her abuser, but the damage that is done by violence and fear takes time and attention to heal.

Our counsellors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for one simple thing: listening. The women who enter our residential programs have already developed tremendous strategies for surviving horrific situations; we encourage them to learn to trust their own decisions. We offer one-on-one and group counselling and opportunities for women to share, learn from and support each other.

Our Women’s Group explores different issues all abused women face – independence, self-esteem, healthy relationships and boundaries. In addition, we also offer:

  • Expressive Art Group
  • Workshops on parenting and other relevant issues brought forward by women
  • Cultural interpreters and ESL
  • Court Support program to help women navigate the complex legal system
  • Social activities like games, movies, outings, and holiday celebrations

Women and children escaping violence find a safe haven at Interval House – a home where they can heal their physical and emotional scars and rebuild their lives.
