Do you know BESS?

BESS women

Our Building Economic Self-Sufficiency (BESS) program provides women with the tools – educational, financial, and emotional – to rebuild and transform their lives in the aftermath of domestic abuse.

  • BESS graduates have a 75% employment rate within their field.
  • In our 2-week BESS workshop, women complete a skills inventory, learn to write a resume and cover letter, conduct a job search, prepare for an interview and develop life skills like balancing work and parenting.
  • Participants can access our Career Boutique, where they start building an interview and career wardrobe. New and like-new clothing is donated by professional women from the community.
  • Donor support helped 42 women graduate from the BESS program in 2012.
