Celebrating the holidays at Interval House

The shelter has been bustling for the past couple of weeks, busy with holiday preparations and festivities! At Interval House, the winter holidays are one of our favourite times of year, as it’s truly a time for the women and children at the shelter to heal, relax, and have fun.

Royal Le Page in our Toy RoomAs always, our holiday festivities this year were supported by the amazing work of volunteer groups. First, a team from Royal LePage generously donated their time (and vehicles!) to help transport and organize the toys for Interval House’s toy room. The next day, women in our employment and housing programs were able to “shop” the store to pick out gifts for their children at our Community Programs Holiday Party. It was truly meaningful to the women we serve to ensure their children wouldn’t be without a special gift this holiday season.

Hire Power runs the Community Program Party

The Community Programs Party was a fun time for all! Put on this year by a wonderful group of Hire Power employees, the party was a chance for families to play games, meet Santa, and, most importantly, reconnect with one another and foster a sense of community.

GE with Santa at our Residential PartyWe wrapped up our week of celebrations with the Residential Program Holiday Party for the women and children currently calling Interval House home. Thanks to the generosity of a volunteer group from GE Capital, the families living at the shelter enjoyed a festive turkey dinner, cookie decorating, and carol singing. The kids were thrilled to receive gifts from GE’s very own Santa as well.

Thanks very much to the volunteers and corporate partners that made this holiday season possible at Interval House. On behalf of all of us here at Interval House, happy holidays!
