Mother's Day 2015

Every year at Interval House, dozens of women come through our doors looking for a safe place, free of violence. The vast majority of those women are mothers, and come to us looking to rebuild not only their own lives, but their children's lives.

A recent Interval House-commissioned study revealed that 1 in 6 (16%) Canadians shared that their mother has been a victim of domestic abuse. This Mother's Day, help us to let mothers – and all women – know that they are not alone, they are not to blame for domestic abuse, and that there are community organizations like Interval House to support them.

As Mother’s Day approaches, to work to end violence against women you can:

  • Help brighten the day of a mother living at Interval House by making a donation in honour of your mother or another woman in your life.
  • Share our Mother's Day campaign ( on social media with the hashtags #1in6 and #GiveforMom.
